Wastewater Treatment Plant in Svilengrad Officially Opened
On April 26, 2015, the official opening of the newly constructed Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) and water and sewerage facilities took place, realized under the project "Construction, Reconstruction, and Modernization of Sewerage Network, WWTP, and Water Supply Network in Svilengrad," funded by the Operational Program "Environment 2007-2013."
The ribbon was cut by the Minister of Environment and Water, Ivelina Vassileva, and the Mayor of Svilengrad, Eng. Georgi Manolov. The facility was blessed by Archpriest Konstantin. Other official guests included Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, Minister of Transport Ivaylo Moskovski, Head of the State Fund "Agriculture" Rumen Porozhanov, Regional Governor Dobri Belivanov, members of parliament, mayors of municipalities, and business representatives.
The construction of the WWTP was carried out by the consortium "BIO CONSTRUCTION ENEMONA" – Sofia, consisting of "Raicommerce Construction" PLC, "Enemona" PLC, and "Biogest International" Ltd.
From the project's start on November 27, 2012, until now, extensive construction and repair activities have been completed, including: Wastewater Treatment Plant in Svilengrad, Reconstructed water and sewerage network in the "Izgrev" neighborhood, Renovated water supply network and new sewerage network in the "Gebran" and "Kap. Petko Voyvoda" neighborhoods, Reconstructed and modernized pumping stations on the left and right banks of the Maritsa River, Main collectors from the left and right banks of the Maritsa River
Outfall collector from the WWTP, service road. The total project value is BGN 48,132,968.14. The granted financial aid is BGN 46,463,012.45, co-financed by the EU Cohesion Fund with BGN 37,170,409.96, and national co-financing of BGN 9,292,602.49. The Municipality of Svilengrad contributed BGN 1,669,955.69 of its own funds. The project's duration was 30 months.
