"Raicommerce Construction" Marks the Official Opening of the Water Supply and Sewerage Project in Smolyan
The Integrated Water Project of the Smolyan Agglomeration, also known as the Second Water Cycle of Smolyan, has officially been completed. Part of this large-scale project was implemented by Raicommerce Construction JSC, which carried out the project "Engineering – Design, Construction, and Author’s Supervision of the Reconstruction and Completion of the Internal Sewerage and Water Supply Network of Smolyan" under the FIDIC Yellow Book contract conditions. The main goal of the project is to overcome issues related to the existing potable and wastewater infrastructure in the city, as well as to ensure environmentally friendly wastewater treatment and discharge.
The official opening ceremony was attended by representatives of local and state authorities, including the Deputy Regional Governors of Smolyan, Andriyan Petrov and Krasimir Daskalov, as well as key figures involved in the project's implementation. Among them was Eng. Blagoy Kozarev, General Director of Raicommerce Construction JSC. The ribbon was symbolically cut, and Eng. Blagoy Kozarev wished for a long and trouble-free operational period.
The activities completed by Raicommerce Construction JSC within the project "Reconstruction and Completion of the Internal Sewerage and Water Supply Network of Smolyan" included the reconstruction of 6 km of existing water pipelines and the installation of 7 km of new high-density polyethylene pipelines. Over 15 km of sewer networks were built, rehabilitated, or reconstructed, including the use of the trenchless CIPP (Cured-In-Place Pipe) method to extend the system’s operational life.
The project's execution was challenging due to the complex terrain—narrow streets, steep slopes, and the need to pass under rivers. Despite these difficulties, Raicommerce Construction implemented modern engineering solutions, ensuring high-quality execution with minimal environmental impact.
The completion of this significant infrastructure project improves living conditions in the city by enabling more efficient water resource management. In the context of the growing global issue of water scarcity, the responsible use of resources and modernization of water infrastructure are key to the sustainable development and environmental security of the region.
