Project for Reclamation of a Municipal Waste Landfill Starts

In June, the project "Closure and Reclamation of the Municipal Solid Waste Landfill in the Municipality of Byala Slatina" was launched with a ceremonial first sod. The project is being executed by the consortium "Fundament Construct," with the leading partner "Raicommerce Construction" PLC.

The event was attended by the mayor of the municipality, representatives of the Contractor and the Designer, representatives of the Regional Inspectorate of Environment and Water (RIEW) and the Basin Directorate, the Member of Parliament from the Byala Slatina municipality, and numerous guests.

The work on the project will proceed in two stages – technical and biological reclamation. The technical reclamation includes the relocation of solid household waste, construction of biogas drainage systems, earthworks, and more.

After the completion of the technical reclamation, biological reclamation will be carried out. This includes afforestation and grassing of the site – over 30,000 trees and shrubs will be planted in the reclaimed landfill area.
